Plan Description

Himeji is about 90 km west of Osaka. The train works, but a day trip built around it tends to spend more time in transit than at the castle. A private car collects you at your hotel, runs straight down the expressway, and waits while you are inside. Of the six hours, roughly three are driving and about two and a half are on site, which is enough to climb to the top floor of the keep and still walk the neighbouring Koko-en Garden. The keep has steep stairs and a shoes-off section, so being able to leave bags in the car makes a real difference.

Central Osaka (hotel or Osaka Station) - Himeji Castle - Koko-en Garden - Otemae Street - Central Osaka Departure from Kyoto is also possible; we recommend 7 hours or more. Pickup, drop-off and stops can be arranged to suit you.

Important Notes / Cancellation Policy

If you are not at the pick-up location after your scheduled departure time, your booking will be automatically canceled.
Delays may occur due to traffic conditions. Please allow plenty of time when making your reservation.
If you wish to change the time or location, please cancel your current reservation and book again.

Cancellation Policy

Once the booking is confirmed, cancellation fees will apply under the following conditions:

Up to 3 days before the departure date: Free
1 to 2 days before the departure date: 30% of the total fare
On the departure date up to the scheduled time: 50% of the total fare
After the scheduled departure time: 100% of the total fare

FAQ

Q. Is 6 hours enough to climb the main keep?

Yes. The plan allows about two and a half hours on site, which covers the climb up and down the keep plus Koko-en Garden. During cherry blossom season, autumn colours and national holidays the keep can impose entry limits and queues, so we recommend 7 hours or more at those times.

Q. Can we add Engyo-ji on Mount Shosha?

Yes, with the 8 hour option. It is about 25 minutes by car from the castle and needs roughly 90 minutes on site including the ropeway and the walk. It does not fit into the 6 hour plan, so please tell us when you book.

Q. Can we start from Kyoto instead?

You can, but Kyoto adds about 30 km each way, so we recommend 7 hours or more. With 6 hours from Kyoto you would have only about 90 minutes on site, which is tight for the keep alone.
