Plan Description

Nara is unusually easy once you get there. Todai-ji, Nara Park, Kasuga Taisha and Kofuku-ji sit within a single walkable area, so the sightseeing itself is simple. The hard part is the round trip: from Kyoto or Osaka it means transfers and waiting for connections. A private car takes you from your hotel door to the Nara Park drop-off in about an hour each way, leaving a solid two hours on the ground. That is enough for the Great Buddha Hall and the lantern-lined approach to Kasuga Taisha without rushing, which makes it workable with children or older travellers.

Pick-up & Drop-off Points

Central Kyoto (hotel or Kyoto Station) - Todai-ji - Nara Park - Kasuga Taisha - Kofuku-ji - Central Kyoto Central Osaka pickup is available at the same fare. Pickup, drop-off and stops can be arranged to suit you.

Important Notes / Cancellation Policy

If you are not at the pick-up location after your scheduled departure time, your booking will be automatically canceled.
Delays may occur due to traffic conditions. Please allow plenty of time when making your reservation.
If you wish to change the time or location, please cancel your current reservation and book again.

Cancellation Policy

Once the booking is confirmed, cancellation fees will apply under the following conditions:

Up to 3 days before the departure date: Free
1 to 2 days before the departure date: 30% of the total fare
On the departure date up to the scheduled time: 50% of the total fare
After the scheduled departure time: 100% of the total fare

FAQ

Q. Is the price the same from Osaka?

Yes. The fare is identical whether you start in central Osaka or central Kyoto. Osaka is slightly closer, so you get a little more time on the ground in Nara.

Q. Can we really see both Todai-ji and Kasuga Taisha in 4 hours?

Yes. The round trip takes about two hours and leaves roughly two hours in Nara. Because the main sites are clustered within walking distance, that covers the Great Buddha Hall and the approach to Kasuga Taisha comfortably. Add Toshodai-ji or Yakushi-ji and we recommend 5 hours or more.

Q. Where can we buy deer crackers?

They are sold at stalls inside Nara Park, payable on the spot. The deer are wild animals and will gather around anyone holding food, so please keep small children with an adult.
