Plan Description

Leave Sapporo in the morning and head north to Biei, arriving at the Shirogane Blue Pond while it is still quiet, with bare larch trunks mirrored in the turquoise water. Minutes away, Shirahige Falls pours straight out of the cliff face beneath the Blue River Bridge. In the afternoon, stroll the striped flower beds of Shikisai-no-Oka before continuing to Farm Tomita in Nakafurano, where the lavender fields are at their best in mid-July. A late lunch at Furano Marche closes the day before the drive back. Around 380km round trip, all in one private vehicle with no transfers.

Q. Are admission fees included?

Facility admission fees are not included. Admission to Shikisai-no-Oka (800 yen for high school students and above, 500 yen for elementary and junior high students, July to September) is payable on site, and Farm Tomita has free admission. Parking fees, expressway tolls, fuel and tax are all included in the tour price.

Q. Is the tour worthwhile outside the lavender season?

Lavender usually peaks around mid-July, but the Blue Pond can be visited all year. From late October to mid-April it is illuminated from sunset until 9pm (24 October to 22 April in the 2025-26 season), and in winter the surface is covered in snow, so we rebuild the day around snow scenery and the illumination.

Q. Why is 10 hours recommended rather than 8?

The round trip from Sapporo to Furano and Biei is about 380km and takes roughly six hours of driving alone. With 8 hours each stop is cut to 20-30 minutes, so we treat 10 hours as standard: it lets you reach the Blue Pond during the quietest morning window and still walk Farm Tomita at an unhurried pace.
